HN4 - The City of London names the Isle of Man as a “Leading International Financial Centre”

The Isle of Man is the highest ranked of seven “new” financial centres appearing for the first time in the GFCI report, and third in the British Isles after London and Dublin. The GFCI report publishes the top 50 rated financial centres and is produced by the City of London.

The Isle of Man Treasury Minister, Hon. Allan Bell has commented:

“We are delighted to have been awarded this ranking by the City of London. Our inclusion and ranking in the report are a clear indication of the success of the Isle of Man’s strategy to both maintain and extend the Island’s competitive edge by encouraging inward investment and economic growth. We are also delighted to see that the GFCI 2 report identifies regulatory issues as the single most important area of competitiveness.”

A high level of cooperation between the Isle of Man government and the fund industry has also resulted in a “Standard and Poor” rating of AAA.
